It was another impressive action from concerned Nigerians towards eradicating the menace of quackery in Nursing profession by educating the public on their rights to quality healthcare from certified professionals, dangers of quackery and the need to collaborate on eliminating this “health fraud”.
This Antiquackery walk held on 16th December, 2019, was organised by the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students Association (NUNSA) during their Annual Northern Zone Convention under the chairmanship of Idris Abdul Ahmed, the secretary general of the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students Association (NUNSA) ably assisted by Mubarak Ubale Shuaibu and Fatima Bello.
The police were on ground to provide protection and prevent any chaos from people who are not nurses or might want to use the crowd to perpetrate their evil act.
Students from the following Universities participated in the walk;
Bayero University Kano
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
University of Jos
University of Maiduguri
Federal University Birnin Kebbi
The walk started in the morning around 10am, from Ibrahim Taiwo Road junction, Kano state, passed through Beirut Road and then down to the Ministry of Health, Kano state where we were received by the representatives of both the Commissioner of Health and the Director of Nursing service, Kano state.
The Ministry gave commendation to the students for the antiquackery walk and also reiterated their commitment to fight quackery.
Idris Abdul Ahmed is a vibrant member of Nurses Revolutio, one of the founding members.
